The Simple Routines of Leading Lean

The Simple Routines of Leading Lean

Whilst savings can be achieved by spending lots of money, a small shift in our mindset is enough to realise significant improvements.
Get involved in the basic patterns we as leaders can do to lead and engage our teams in lean thinking.

To build upon last year’s talk “Looking through the Lens of Lean”. The talk will be sharing, exploring and teaching the basic habits and mind-set, leaders from many of the world’s most successful organisations have adopted to engage their teams in establishing a continuous learning and continuous improvement culture. An opportunity to take part in a different way of thinking and leading and make a difference in the lens industry.

Introductions, Mike Denison will share a couple of stories and experiences that may surprise and even shock you about how some of the top organisations think. Plus a reminder of the basics of lean thinking.

The talk will open the doors of the Five Leadership Drivers (Direction, Demonstration, Develop Discover and Deliver) that Lean and Agile organisations are using to engage their teams and advance an open, psychologically safe, continuous learning culture. This framework will share how these leaders think, why the inverted organisation is key, and the role of the leader in creating the conditions and structures for their teams to be successful in their work. Plus three questions leaders should be asking everyone, every day.

The talk will focus on Four Fundamentals of Leading a Lean and Agile Organisation. These four routines are critical in supporting how leaders engage with their teams and help create some of the structures for “Leading with Questions” a core lean leadership habit.

You will have the opportunity to practice and experience how to progress and enhance your questioning skills, turning closed questions into open thought provoking questions. Designing simple questioning patterns and routines you can easily apply to practice this skill back in your work, whether this is in manufacturing, procurement, design or sales.

Questions and Answers Session: Opportunity for the forum to go deeper into areas that are important to them.

How to quickly get started in adopting and practicing what you have learned and found insightful through the session.
